Peters Furniture Co.” maker’s label. A wonderful piece of St. Louis furniture history, this tall chest features beautiful aged wood character, two distinctive curved upper drawers, four spacious lower drawers, paneled sides, wooden knobs and traditional keyhole escutcheons. The drawers feature substantial period construction with dovetail joinery visible along the sides. Decades of natural wear, color variation and patina give the piece tremendous character that would be difficult to reproduce artificially. Joseph Peters was a prominent St. Louis cabinetmaker and furniture manufacturer whose company produced quality bedroom and case furniture in St. Louis.
